This sculpture combines ceramic and stainless steel in a study of growth and form. The base is a mid-range fired black clay vessel with an offset neck, thrown and hand-carved before firing. Rising from it is a stainless steel branch-like structure, its blackened “buds” created during the welding process. Three delicate “tangles,” made from ultra-fine stainless steel wire, punctuate the branching forms.

Every element, both metal and ceramic, was hand fabricated by me in my Taos, NM studio.
