About Lake Object

Located on Upper Bent Street in Taos’ Historic District, Lake Object is an artist-run gallery founded and curated by Julie Lake. Lake presents her stainless steel and ceramic works alongside a refined selection of contemporary visual art by Taos-area creators.

Julie Lake’s work explores the tension between industrial materials and organic form, reflecting the rugged textures and elemental scale of the high desert. Her stainless steel sculptures and jewelry combine precision fabrication with organic rhythm, creating forms that feel both engineered and alive, and her ceramics embrace the raw nature of clay while retaining a precise, minimalist sensibility.

Inside Lake Object, visitors encounter a quiet, deliberate exhibition setting that invites contemplation. Each piece is given space to breathe. The showcased work from local artists reflects an emphasis on material integrity, shape, and contemporary vision. Whether you’re drawn to metalwork, ceramics, or fine art, the gallery offers a carefully considered encounter with each object.

Lake Object is part of a new generation of Taos galleries focused on contemporary work. The space connects the town’s long tradition of making with a present-day perspective, which is defined by clarity, material focus, and thoughtful presentation. L.O. invites visitors to engage with objects that highlight exceptional craftsmanship and innovative design. By fostering connections between the natural environment, the creative process, and modern artistry, the gallery honors Taos’ legacy as a creative hub while embracing its role in shaping the future of art.
